Fibre Optic Cable: an electrical cable containing one or more optical fibres, for high-speed telecommunications, data connections and networks – usually used over greater distances.
Using fibre optic from router to provider, the internet connection will often be much faster. Space can be saved as one fibre can carry much more data than electric cables.
More expensive than the standard Category 5e/6 cable.
Category 6 Cable: also known as Cat 6, Category 6 Cable is made up of 4 twisted copper cables and is used for ethernets (computer networks). Less crosstalk, system noise (interference) and errors than Cat 5e.
Cat 6 is backwards compatible with Category 5e Cable. A better choice than Cat 5e for future-proofing your network.
Maximum cable length – 100 metres (depending on the network). Theoretical top speed 10 Gbps over 33-55 metres. Less speed the longer the length.
Category 5e Cable: also known as Cat 5e, Category 5e Cable. The cheaper of the three options. Maximum cable length – 100 metres. Theoretical top speed 1000 Mbps.
Focus Electrical can provide any networking equipment that your company requires, and can install additional points where needed.
Different cables can be provided, depending on the level of protective tubing necessary for the job at hand.
Once set up Focus Electrical tests the whole system rigorously. We are always available for ongoing support and maintenance.
